At a simple ceremony held at the Philippine General Hospital,Manila, Ambassador Jaideep Mazumdar handed over a cheque from Government of India amounting to US$200,000(a grant announced in November 2017 by Prime Minister Modi during his visit to the Philippines) to Mr. Shanti Sipani, Chairman of Mahaveer Philippine Foundation Inc. (MPFI). MPFI, established in 1989, is a non profit & non-government organization based in Manila and has been instrumental in providing free prosthetic limbs developed in India (Jaipur foot) to the needy Filipino amputees thereby helping them achieve sustainable livelihood. MPFI provides its services at the Philippine General Hospital and has two other centres located at Philippine Orthopedic Center, Quezon City and Zamboanga City Medical Center. Fourteen Filipino soldiers injured in Marawi have also benefited from this program.
