The Embassy of India in Manila in partnership with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) celebrated the World Environment Day as a part of commemoration of150th Birth Anniversary Year of Mahatma Gandhi on 07 June 2019 at Havener Auditorium, IRRI, Los Baños, Laguna. Ambassador Jaideep Mazumdar delivered a message regarding the importance of living a sustainable lifestyle and the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi's environmental advocacy in today's world. In addition, Dr. Sudhir Yadav (Senior Scientist, Water Management, Sustainable Impact Platform) gave a seminar called "Feeding the world while protecting the planet" and briefly discussed about IRRI's initiatives to help protect the environment. Ambassador Mazumdar together with IRRI Chief of Staff, Dr. Brothers lead the ceremonial tree planting in commemoration of the World Environment Day and the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
